Harry & Elaine
Hello, my name is Harry Branch Jr. owner of Turtle Beach Lodge.  I was first introduced to Toledo Bend Lake in November 1968.  That was the first of many trips to The Bend with my family.  I remember leaves still being on the trees as the Lake had just flooded.  I was 11 years old.  We stayed at a RV campground at the end of Hwy 1215 called Acadian Shores.  Over the next six years we camped at several different campgrounds along the Lake.  In the spring of 1974 during Easter we camped at Turtle Beach Lodge.  Mom and Dad knew friends that had a camp there.  We had a good trip as always.

My Dad subscribed to the Toledo Sportsman magazine which arrived monthly with news about the lake.  The May addition had an ad that had Turtle Beach Lodge for sale.  Well that ad moved Mom and Dad to thinking about the possibility of moving to Toledo Bend to run the business.  In June my Dad took a week of vacation and traveled to Turtle Beach to ”look it over”.   Well that is all it took.  We were off to live at Toledo Bend.

The Branch’s took possession on August 15, 1974.  I worked for Dad ½ day school days and weekends my senior year.  I graduated from Negreet High School in May 1975 and started at Northwestern State in Natchitoches La. that fall.  I continued working summers and breaks at Turtle Beach.

I met my wife, Elaine at Northwestern in the Fall 0f 1975 and we married Jan 1979.   We resided in Branch La. For 15 years.  We have four children.  My Dad passed in Nov of 1993.  After much prayer my wife and I decided to move back to run the family business and raise our kids.

Since January 1994 our philosophy has been to treat people as we would like to be treated, meet their needs and go beyond their expectations.  Through this God has blessed us abundantly.

Elaine and I hope your stay with us will leave you with good memories as we have had coming to Toledo Bend. Until we meet again safe journey and good luck.
God Bless,
Harry & Elaine Branch

Toledo Bend Reservoir:
Toledo Bend Reservoir (created in 1967)  is a man made reservoir on the Sabine River between Texas and Louisiana.
It is known as the bass capital of the world. The lake has 1,200 miles of shoreline an area of 185,000 acres (749 km²), the largest man-made body of water in (or partially in) Texas, the largest in the South, and the fifth largest by surface area in the United States.  The dam is capable of generating 92 megawatts of electrical power. The dam itself is located in the northeast corner of Newton County, Texas; however, that county includes very little of the reservoir, as most of it extends northward into parts of Sabine and DeSoto parishes in Louisiana, and Sabine, Shelby, and Panola counties in Texas.
Young or old, Toledo Bend is a joy to behold!
